Teacher workshop on Styling
The most endearing quality of an Indian woman is the range of comely apparels that she adorns. Indian clothing, especially Indian women's clothing, is famous the world over for its elegant, rich and exquisite styles. On the basis of this, a workshop for teachers was conducted by Ms. Nita Kapoor, faculty of fashion studies at our School, on 8th November 2016
At the beginning of the session, a presentation on fashion was shown to the teachers. The presentation highlighted the world of fashion, latest trends in fashion and colour combinations on the basis of seasons. She suggested many combinations of colour and fabric suitable for Indian women. She also focused on the attire of working women in different fields.
Ms. Kapoor spoke about donning an appropriate attire in the teaching profession. According to her, one should have a basic understanding of what constitutes school-friendly attire. Dressing too casually sends off blas vibes to students and fellow faculty that might undermine their ability to teach from a position of respect and authority. But dressing too rigidly could have the opposite effect, creating a sense of separation between the teacher and students.

The best part of the workshop was an activity in which all the teachers participated. The activity was based on the different kinds of body profiles. The idea behind this activity was to help teachers opt for fabric as per their physique. She also suggested that one should opt for fabric which is comfortable to carry. Case studies were discussed and demonstrated during the session to help teachers understand the accurate way of dressing up.
We were also made aware of manufacturers who make clothes targeting customer age, price range, occasion and lifestyle. The information was useful and worth acquiring!
Ms. Kapoor finally wound up the session by suggesting several diet tips that one should follow in order to lead a healthy lifestyle and good physique.
The session was an eye opener for many of us since fashion is not limited to clothing but can be found all around us and as Ms. Kapoor voiced.in everything that surrounds us!
