The 15th Dr Amidas Goradia Inter-School Hindi Debate

On the 7th July, 2019, the 15th edition of the prestigious Dr. Amidas Goradia Inter-School Hindi Debate was hosted by The Indian School. As an winitiative to encourage public speaking and promote the use of Hindi, the event was graced by Ms. Anjilee Istwal, NDTV journalist as chief guest. The participants were judged by an honourable panel of judges.

The chief guest and judges were warmly welcomed and presented with saplings as a part of the schools environment initiative. The event commenced with the traditional lamp lighting ceremony as a symbol of positivity and light. The gathering was then addressed by our Principal, Ms Tania Joshi, who motivated the participants and highlighted the importance of debating. Thereafter, chief guest, Ms. Anjilee Istwal spoke to encourage the young participants, laying emphasis on the use of language and vocabulary.

A heated debate began as the young primary level debaters emphatically expressed their opinions on topics such as Social Media, the use of apps like Swiggy and Zomato to order food and family values including cherishing the elderly. Our young orators spoke passionately and won everyones hearts by displaying remarkable self-confidence and a deft use of the language! As the debate came to an end, the judges addressed the gathering by turn, blessing the participants with their appreciation and valuable suggestions. They praised the talented kids for their confidence and excellent attempt at the language and suggested ways to improve further. The importance of Hindi was underlined and the host school was congratulated for organising the event and promoting the language.

Soon after, the results were declared. D.P.S. East of Kailash was declared winner of the Rolling Trophy and The Indian School and Raghubir Singh Junior Modern School shared the second place. The award for Best Speaker went to Piya Nandwani of D.P.S. East of Kailash followed by Rahini Bansal of Raghubir Singh Junior Modern School and Upasana Khatua of The Indian School.

It was surely a memorable experience for everyone present there.
