The Indian School hosts The 18th Dr. Amidas Goradia National Inter school English Debate
The 18th Dr Amidas Goradia Memorial National Inter-School Debate on 6 August 2019 held at The Indian School provided an edifying forum for ignited minds from 27 prominent schools across the country.
The speakers flourish was evidenced in their speeches inspired by epochs in Indian history-the bi-centenary birth commemoration of Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar, 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, 90th year of the Dandi March, the centenary of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre and the birth centenary of writer Amrita Pritam.
The ceremonial lamp was lit by School Chairman, Mr Prafull Goradia, members of the School management, Principal Ms Tania Joshi and senior PTA representatives whose dignified presence lent grandeur to the occasion.
Mr Goradia in his address set the tone of the debate maintaining how it is quintessential for any public discourse and the functioning of Parliamentary democracy. The multi-format debate was avidly moderated by Mr Parnab Mukherjee.

The two finalist teams from The Indian School and Springdales School, Pusa Road agreed to disagree on the motion- Colonialism is civilizations earliest start-up. The scintillating block and tackle round was a pure delight as effusive debaters in the manner of graceful dancers adroitly changed stance on their respective motions- Bollywood never had a conscience and The Indian medical system is designed not to be pro-poor.
Springdales School, Pusa Road took home the winners trophy, The Indian School finished second while the team from Mayo Girls School, Ajmer, came in third.
