On 16th October, 2014, the students of our School got an opportunity to take part in the 19th Ramjas Inter-school Debate Competition. Ojasvi Jain and Prashansa Gupta of class 12 spoke for and against the motion respectively, the topic being:The youth of today is not ready for information explosion.They were accompanied by Shivali Anand and Tabish Hussain as interjectors.
Ojasvi highlighted why the youth of today believes in quick-fixes and is spoilt for choice, while Prashansa enumerated examples to prove the point against the topic.
Over 60 schools participated in the event including Springdales, Pusa Road; DPS,R.K Puram; Mater Dei School, Salwan Public School, Modern School,Barakhamba Road etc. Both Ojasvi and Prashansa received the Best Speaker award which was awarded to 10 students from among 120 highly competitive speakers! In the final round, Shivali Anand was adjudged Best Interjecter.
The debates were rich in quality and highly absorbing. The arguments were persuasive, convincing and wide-ranging.Therefore it proved to be an excellent learning experience for the participants which stretched their horizons and added new feathers to their caps!
