The Drifting Canvas visit to an unusual art exhibition

On 18th of May 2017, select students of classes VIII to XI witnessed a one- of- a kind multimedia art exposition at the Select City Walk in Saket. The exhibition was divided into sections Anteroom- which sought to educate, Multimedia Hall- which meant to engage and Interactive zone-which aimed at entertainment.

The first section, Anteroom, included the works of 11 legendary artists belonging to the 19th and 20th centuries, namely Claude Monet: father of Impressionism, Edgar Degas, Vincent Van Gogh-:famous Post Impressionist, Paul Gauguin, Henri Rousseau- known for Primitivism, Paul Signac :Neo Impressionist who developed Pointillism, Gustav Klimt: renowned pioneer of Art Nouveau, Wassily Kandinsky: abstract artist, Kazimir Malevich: pioneer of Supermatism , Amedeo Modigliani and Henri de Toulouse- Lautrec.

A walk through the Anteroom transported students to a different place in time, with an uplifting journey into the lives of the artists, their trajectories and experiences, which together shaped their styles.

In the Multimedia hall, the second section, a whole new perspective awaited us. It had 24 larger-than-life HD screens with light and sound effects, which enveloped us for 50 minutes in an interplay of vivid colours dancing in tandem with neo-classical music! The multimedia exhibit was the biggest attraction at the exhibition and was truly an extraordinary audio- visual experience. Van Gogh, Degas, and Kandinsky recreated their masterpieces accompanied by music and audio to carry us 100 years back into a vortex of art renaissance.
