Top Chess honours

Chess is like life and every game is a new life - Eduard Gufeld

Chess as a sport requires a lot of mental stamina. It is this requirement that sets it apart from other physical sports. Chess players also have the ability to take in a lot of information at a time and recall relevant bits when needed. So, mental stamina and memory go hand in hand while playing this game. The students of The Indian School recently participated in the Minefield Chess Tournament held at DPS RK Puram on the 19th and 20th of December 2015. A number of prestigious schools from around New Delhi also took part in this tournament. Some of these were DPS RK Puram, Ryan International School, KR Mangalam Vikaspuri, Hansraj Model School, Modern School Vasant Vihar, Modern School Barakhamba Road and Sanskriti School. Our students participated in all the Under-16 category events. These events included the Individual Championship, Supply Event, Trivia Round, Puzzle Solving and Main Event (standard tournament). Five of our students won accolades for their performances in these events. These students were: [gallery link="file"] Aansh Gupta ( class IX) won the Individual Championship and Main Event in the Under-16 category. He was also the 1st runner up in the Supply Event and 2nd runner up in the Trivia Round. Aryan Kakkar (class X) stood first in the Main Event and was 2nd runner up in the Trivia and Supply Events. Shirsh Kumar ( class X) stood first in the Main Event and was 2nd runner up in the Puzzle Solving and Supply Events. Aditya Sharma (class IX) stood first in the Main Event and was 1st runner up in the Supply Event. Sarvam Narang ( class XI) stood first in the Main Event.
