Top honour at Literary Dialogues an inter school competition

On the 27th August, 2018, Aatif Husain and Avantika Chodha of class 12 participated in the first edition of Literary Dialogues, an inter school event held at the Maharana Mewar Public School in Udaipur. The event had two competitive categories- a multi-format debate and a poetry writing competition.

Aatif Husain participated in the poetry writing category and wrote a letter in verse, as if written by Martin Luther King Jr. to Donald Trump! The particulars of the letter were a conversation between two men who have beliefs that are completely in contrast with each other.

The multi-format debate consisted of two rounds, the preliminary and the final rounds. The first round was a modified Cambridge round of turncoat and extempore. Aatif spoke on the topic This house believes that there is a digital threat to manual imagination whereas Avantika spoke on What is dissent?

The results of the first round were announced and The Indian School, along with the BK Birla, Centre for Education, proceeded to the finals. Both the teams spoke on the topic This house believes that democracy is increasingly becoming more masculine in South Asia.

It was a proud moment for us as our School was declared winner of the debate. Aatif won the third prize in the creative writing category and Avantika was named Best Speaker in the final round.
