Top Honours at Inter-School Literary Competition

The Indian School participated in the Silver Jubilee Commemorative Young Thinkers’ Conclave, hosted by Mayo College Girls’ School, Ajmer, from 21 to 23 August 2026. Held under the inspiring theme “Fortune Favours the Bold”, the conclave brought together young minds from 28 schools across nine states of India. Representing The Indian School were Sakshi Rao (XII) and Avni Singh (X), who participated in the English creative writing event, “Articulating Boldness Quietly” where they composed a doalogue between Charlie Chaplin and Lipa Dua.

The three-day conclave commenced with an inaugural ceremony that set a purposeful tone for the proceedings. Ms Neeti Bhalla Saini, Principal of Mayo College Girls’ School; Mr Amit Ranjan, Chief Guest; and Mr Parnab Mukherjee, independent pedagogue, knowledge curator and performance consultant, addressed the gathering. The opening session celebrated youthful enquiry and encouraged participants to be bold in their ideas while remaining authentic in their expression.

The English creative writing competition unfolded over three challenging rounds, with the preliminary rounds held on 21 August and the final round on 22 August. Participants were encouraged to think imaginatively, engage deeply with diverse perspectives and articulate complex ideas with finesse. One of the distinctive tasks required students to compose a letter from a historical personality to a contemporary figure. The assigned personalities were  challenging the participants to imaginatively bridge two different eras, perspectives and forms of artistic expression.

Sakshi and Avni demonstrated remarkable creativity, depth and originality throughout the competition. Their nuanced writing, evocative expression and ability to engage thoughtfully with the challenging theme earned The Indian School the prestigious Best Delegation Prize.

Beyond the competition, the conclave provided a stimulating platform for cultural and intellectual exchange. Interacting with peers from across the country, the students shared perspectives, broadened their horizons and explored ideas beyond conventional academic boundaries.

The achievement is a testament to the students’ literary talent, confidence and intellectual curiosity, and brings pride and distinction to The Indian School.
