Top honours for inter school debate at DPS RK Puram.

On the 25th August, 2017, students of The Indian School participated in the Dhruv Rajgarhia Memorial Inter School English Debate at DPS, RK Puram. The debate in Parliamentary format saw the participation of more than 18 schools from the Delhi-NCR region. The teams were divided into two pools of nine teams each and were given their respective topics.

The preliminary round had students speaking on topics such as The regulation of entry of refugees from former colonies and The boons and bane of Artificial Intelligence. Both speakers from each team spoke, wherein one speaker each spoke for and against the topic. The top three teams qualified for the final round.

The teams qualifying for the finals were DPS International(Saket), Vasant Valley School, Modern School Barakhamba Road, Air Force Bal Bharati and The Indian School. The finals took place in a face-off Parliamentary format wherein two teams each went against each other, proposing or opposing their respective motions. The motions covered topics such as the use of gender neutral pronouns in textbooks, the do what you want narrative and many others. The Indian School team faced the team from Vasant Valley School in which the students proposed the motion This house agrees with the popularisation of the do what you want narrative.

The top three speakers of the debate were Vasant Valley School, Modern School Barakhamba Road and The Indian School. Priyansh Aggarwal from The Indian School secured the prize for the Second Best Speaker. It was a proud moment for our School as the team consisting of Saumyaa Saxena and Priyansh Aggarwal took the Rolling Trophy for the Best Team.
