Top honours in Zonal chess championship

The Chess Championship 2022-23 of Zone-23, an inter-school knock-out chess tournament, was hosted by The Indian School from 27 July to 1 August 2022. Chess players from 50 schools in the zone participated in this grand event.
The competition was sub-divided into the following categories Boys and Girls (sub-junior, junior and senior). The teams consisted of four members each.

The Indian School participated in all the categories. On Days One and Two, the girls' teams matched move for a move to decide the semi-finalists. On the third and fourth days, the boys' teams played four preliminary rounds to qualify for the semi-final. Day Five witnessed the final matches in the boys' sub-categories and also the semi-finals in the girls' sub-categories.
The Indian School Senior Girls team won the tournament in a breath-taking face-off in the final round. The Indianites convincingly defeated the team from Amity International School, Pushp Vihar. Meanwhile, the sub-junior boys' team proudly clinched the Second Runners title.
As a result, the competition gave chess enthusiasts in training a venue to demonstrate and improve their skills.
