UN Day celebration
On 24 October, 2020, our School held an insightful session for the students of classes IX to XII, on the momentous occasion of the 75th anniversary of the United Nations. Prof. (Dr) Mohan Kumar, former Indian ambassador to France and Bahrain, was invited to speak on topics relating to the credibility, function and effectiveness of the UN.
The session was filled with intriguing aspects and views which prompted the audience to pose questions about the UN. Dr Kumar emphasised the need for reforms while highlighting the fact that upcoming economies should be given more representation.
Dr Kumar also explained the thought-provoking concept of The Gandhi Litmus Test, which ought to be kept in mind while framing policies for a nation. He concluded the meeting with a question-answer session in which he addressed matters of current affairs in world politics such as the US Presidential election and Chinas stance in the Security Council in regard to the pandemic.
The students were inspired by the excellent points made by the esteemed guest. The fruitful discussion energised the students in a positive and pragmatic way.
