Visit to the Children's Museum at Siri Fort

The Pre-Primary sections visited the Childrens Museum at Siri Fort on Wednesday, 17 October, 2012 along with their teachers and Head Teacher. The trip was both educational and recreational.

The children were excited to be led around pieces of art and sculpture exhibited in the spacious hall. They particularly enjoyed the story of Lord Krishna carrying the Govardhan on his little finger, as they saw a stone exhibit of the same. They were also curious about the serene images of Gautama Buddha and the Ashoka Pillar.

The museum also had a gallery displaying important monuments of India. Many children were delighted to announce that they had been to several of the sites like the Qutub Minar, the Taj Mahal, the Hawa Mahal and Jantar Mantar! They were also surprised to see images of forts in ruins as well, as the way they looked after refurbishing. An added attraction was the crafts' displays including utensils and toys from olden times.

The best thing imbibed by the children was that there is a need to protect our national heritage. They were privy to images of how monuments look when they are uncared for, or when they are abused by careless visitors. Displays explained the need to preserve the heritage as it's only our's to own.

Afterwards the children settled down on the lawn outside to a sumptuous packed meal that was carried along. There were games as well, to add to the amusement of the beautiful autumn morning.
