Visit to the World Book Fair

There are many little ways to enlarge a childs world. Love of books is the best of all"- Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis

Reading books is a great habit. It helps us to stretch the horizons of knowledge and strengthen the mind.

To promote reading as a habit, Ms. Tarunnum Athar, School librarian, arranged for 54 students from class 8 to visit the World Book Fair at Pragati Maidan on 11th January, 2017. The students were accompanied by their teachers Ms. Vanadana Misra, Ms. Kajal Soni, Ms. Ritu Mendiratta and Ms. Sandhya Batheja.

On arriving at the venue, the group proceeded to Hall No. 10 where numerous stalls by publishers such as Bloomsbury, Om Book Store, Saraswati Publications and the National Book Trust had been set up.

Each child carried a list of books he or she was keen to get hold of. There were many interesting bargains to attract them such as the Buy 3 books for Rs. 100 or the Buy 1 and get 1 free! Live chatting sessions hosted by prominent authors was another attraction. In a short span our group managed to cover the four halls of exhibitors. Besides us, our teachers also bought books for the School library.

The visit to the fair was very enriching. Besides grabbing great bargains, the range of books we got a chance to be exposed to at a single place was remarkable.
