Webinar for Parents of Pre primary classes on Health and Nutrition

It is health that is real wealth and not pieces of gold and silver- Mahatma Gandhi

Nutrition is a critical part of health and development. Better nutrition is related to improved health, a stronger immune system and longevity. Its a proven fact that healthy children learn better.

On 28 November, 2020, The Indian School organised a webinar- Health and Nutrition for the parents of our young Indianites of the Pre-primary. Resource person, Ms. Pooja Singhal, is a dietician and nutritionist having 10 years of experience in the area of nutrition management. She has been associated with Orthonova Hospital and Max Devki Devi Hospital.

Ms Singhal talked about the negative aspects of junk food and pointed out how a regular junk food intake leads to long term health problems such as obesity. She explained that obesity is accompanied by emotional and self-esteem problems and also chronic illnesses in children. She emphasised the importance of a balanced diet as a key to good health and focused on an overall diet rather than specific foods. She advised the parents to encourage their children to eat more whole food and minimally processed food. She highlighted the fact that foods that are closer to their natural form are far preferred to packaged and processed food.

The programme ended with an interactive session where the parents posed some pertinent questions. It was a highly enriching session for both parents and teachers.
