Our School had a mathematical start on 29th June 2015 after the summer break with a meaningful and enlightening session with Dr. Hukam Singh, Former Dean Academic, NIE, NCERT. It was an in-house workshop for all Maths teachers. The central idea of this session was to discuss the common conceptual errors committed by students and teachers while dealing with certain topics.
The session commenced with highlighting the mistakes at the primary level, gradually advancing to the middle, secondary and senior secondary levels. The errors which appear trivial, in reality often lead to major conceptual failure. The speaker laid emphasis on constructing a topic with hands-on activities.

The difference between Euclid and Non-Euclid geometry was projected beautifully, weaving through its axioms and theorems. It was connected to real life situations with appropriate examples.
For classes 11 and 12, special emphasis was placed on the topics, Relations, Functions and Equivalence Relation. Dr. Singh demonstrated the teaching of a few topics through mathematical aids and urged all the teachers to create their own kits for chapter-specific tools to ensure a better understanding of concepts .
The session was summed up by highlighting the need for uplifting the quality of Math teaching in our system by developing the logical thinking and analytical reasoning of the children.
