Workshop on Creative writing

On May 16th, 2018, Krithi Bajaj, Vanshita Sethi (class 11 C ), Gauri Awasthi and Shrey Gogia ( class 11 A) were accompanied by Ms. Suhina Roshangar to the Delhi office of Indiana University, for a creative writing workshop. The session was conducted by Mr. Dan Sullivan, Ms. Bianna Barnes and Mr. Samarth, alumni of the university. The facilitators were well versed with the techniques involved in creative writing and explained the importance of details, characters and metaphors to help students enhance the quality of their writing. The three-hour workshop focused on developing more impactful creative writing skills in the students. The session started with a highly interesting exercise on metaphors in which an emotion was channelised into various progressive metaphors leading to surprising and appreciable results.

[gallery link="file" order="DESC"] The next activity involved each student penning down 20 peculiar things about him/herself and then his/ her partner picking the most interesting one and also describing the reason for doing so. In the last session, the students wrote a descriptive piece on their favourite place or room. This exercise was intended on revealing the importance of details in a writing.
