Workshop on Euphonic Yoga
A one hour Euphonic Yoga workshop was held at our School on 23 August, 2018.
Oscar nominee and BAFTA award winner, tabla maestro, Late Pandit Chatur Lal was one of the pioneers in showcasing Indian classical music on international platforms. His granddaughter, Shruti, took after him by embarking on a musical journey. Euphonic yoga is a one-of-a- kind project recently started by two young minds, Ms. Shruti Chaturlal and Ms. Suman Kanawat, one who has music and dance in her blood and the other with yoga in her soul.
Together both conducted the workshop for the students of classes 6 to 9. The curator and conceptualiser of Euphonic Yoga, Shruti said that combining music, dance and yoga can create perfect symphony. The workshop was initiated with the Dhyan Mudra on the Om chant and was followed by a few specific exercises to warm up. She added that the dance movements are not just a medium to express, they have immense power to alter the mood of the dancer as well as the spectator. Various asanas were performed by elaborating the mudras and chakras influence on the human thought process as well as lifestyle.

Emphasis was placed equally on explanation alongside the demonstration. Yoga is not a mere physical exercise but comprises therapeutic postures that activate certain chakras (energy centres) and nadis (energy channels) in the body. On the other hand music pertains to the rhythmic flow of the Ahata nada, that is sound (perceivable sonic currents) that is produced in nature.
Common ailments of the body and mind were discussed in the context of this technique. Students were both enthusiastic and raring for more.
