Workshop on Happiness curriculum

Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony. The Happiness curriculum is a flagship scheme of the Delhi Government launched in July 2018. Its goal is to instil self-awareness, improve the cognitive abilities of the students and stimulate good mental health, character and resilience.

On 27th May, 2022, a workshop was organised for the teachers of The Indian School. The resource person, Dr Geeta Misra, Mentor Teacher and Happiness District Coordinator, DoE acquainted the teachers with the curriculum in an hour-long session.

The workshop was divided into four parts, starting with a few questions that a teacher needs to ask in a happy classroom. This was followed by a mindfulness activity, in which the teachers were asked to relax and breathe in and out on a piece of soothing music. The need and importance of such a curriculum in todays society was taken up next. Dr Misra spoke about the Happiness Triad which includes a) goal and clarity b) harmony in feelings and c) seeking happiness through the senses.
