Workshop on 'Hydro Rocketry'.
In collaboration with the mission named p 'Space - Technology and Education', a workshop on space science for the students of classes 6,7 and 8 was held on 28 December, 2012.
An introductory session described the principles upon which the launching of a rocket in space becomes possible. Also introduced was the concept, 'escape velocity' of the rocket, ie., what it takes for the rocket to 'escape' from the gravity of earth etc.

Next came an introduction to the different parts of the rocket and the function of each part. A demo was conducted with a model of the rocket being launched with a combination of water and air pressure. An activity session comprised all students making a model of a rocket, individually, using simple things like the plastic bottle, paper, clay etc. Finally, it was time to launch the rockets by the students themselves! And were they eagerly waiting?! The student who made hid/her rocket first, got the first chance to launch.
Needless to say, students enjoyed watching their own rockets going up. Last but not the least, prizes were distributed among the participants.
