Workshop to Promote Math Education

On 29th June, 2016 the Mathematics Department of our School had an interactive session with Dr. Atul Nischal. Dr Nischal is a pioneer in Math education. The theme of the talk was Phobia of Mathematics amongst Students. The two hour session explored pivotal points such as -

What is Math phobia and what are its root causes?

The preventive measures we, as teachers could take to avert the situation.

Possible cures to overcome this phobia.

Dr. Nischal emphasised upon the importance of communicating with children suffering the phobia individually and reaching out to each one with appropriate remedials like providing the child with worksheets from a lower grade, giving him ample time to raise his level and come at par with the rest of the class. The simple approach kept the pace of the session and was an eye-opener.
