On 26th December, 2013, 6 students from our School went to Delhi Public School, RK Puram to participate in the ' World Math Crusade 2013'. Over 50 schools across the country participated in the event . The chief guest on the occasion was chairman CBSE, Mr. Vineet Joshi and the guest of honour was the founder of GanitGurooz, Dr. Atul Nischal.
The event comprised of 5 events including a quiz and a surprise event. The quiz had 2 rounds; the prelims and the final rounds.The quiz consisted of 21 questions of which 10 belonged to problem- solving which literally forced us to put on our thinking caps while the other 11 were of mathematical general knowledge. The latter constituted riddles, limericks and theorems.
[gallery columns="2"]It was indeed requiring high order thinking skills and emphasised the need for problem- solving skills. It indeed was an enriching experience. To quote Dr. Nischal " Mathematics is an integral part of our understanding of society as well as an important tool in learning critical thinking and problem- solving.
