World Population Day art competition

To augment public awareness about World Population Day, Jansankhya Sthirta Kosh in collaboration with Nehru Planetarium held an On-the-Spot Painting competition on 9 July 2018 at Nehru Planetarium. Jansankhya Sthirta Kosh is an autonomous body within the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

20 students from our School took part in this mega event which received the participation of almost 450 students from nearly 30-35 schools of Delhi-NCR. The theme- Small Family- Happy Family aimed to reinforce the need to stabilise population growth in our country with family planning methods.

The event commenced with an orientation about the rules of the contest. Students were given 90 minutes to conceptualise and paint their interpretation. The occasion provided a platform to the budding artists to showcase their creativity.

The artistic expressions on canvas that emerged off the exercise was a rich kaleidoscopic of colour and concept as the young artists painted scenes of small and happy families, scenes of depleting resources and even survival on brink!

An impressive pool of creative talent from our School participated in all the 3 categories: Category 1 (V- VII) Uday Rustagi V D, Niyati VI, Peehu Kashyap VI A, Aryan Das VII B, and Sarah Ilyas VII B;

Category 2 (VIII-IX) Erum Fatima VIII A, Huma Saifi VIII D, Disha Deb IX D, Bhawna Kumari IX C, Anushka Saxena IX E and Asmi Midha IX D

Category 3 (X-XII) - Shreya Palit X B, Urvi Beswal X B, Aanchal Gupta XE, Srishneet Kaur XE, Mehul Tandon XI E, Altamash Ahmed XII D, Mitali Nanda XII D, Prabhsimran Kaur XII D and Soumyaa Aggarwal XII D.

All participants were awarded certificates of participation and served refreshments. The results were announced a day after the event and the prize distribution ceremony was held on 11 July 2018 to mark the World Population Day at the Bharatiya Pravasi Bhavan, Chanakyapuri.

From our School, Uday Rustagi V D won the second prize and Sarah Ilyas VII B won the third prize in Category 1; Shreya Palit X B won the second prize in Category 3. They were awarded a cash prize of Rs. 3,100 for second prize and Rs. 2,100 for the third prize by Honble Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda.

The exultant winners were accompanied by their parents to the prize distribution ceremony.
