The second day of the Zonal matches was much awaited by all participants. The boys stepped onto the court to set it ablaze with speed, endurance, magical footwork, fakes, dribble, 3 pointer shots and much to the audience-excitement, a nail-biting finish.
A total number of 12 matches were to be played as 8 teams are participating in each category of Senior, Junior and Sub-Junior boys.
A total number of 8 games were played and 4 walk-overs were given, as the teams did not report. This did not let the excitement weaken, as the major upset of the day was, when, in game no 4 of the day, the match between The Oxford School and Air force Bal Bharati went into extra time as both teams levelled at 13-13 points apiece. In the end, at the fag end of the extra time, Oxford emerged triumphant. They pressed on hard and scored a defence steal to shock ABBS in round 1 of the senior boys' category.
[gallery columns="2"]In the other matches of the senior boys' category, Father Agnel School beat Summer Fields School by a margin of 20-4 points' difference.
Delhi Public School beat Dev Samaj School. Our School was awarded a walk- over as The Banyan School senior boys' team did not report.
The junior boys' category saw our School team advance to the next round as they outplayed The Banyan School by 16-7 points. In the sub- junior category, the hosts lost to the strong side of ABBS by a 12-2 point difference, ending the hopes of any advance in the next round of the competition.
Day 3 of the tournament will have more excitement as the teams reach the stage of Semi-Finals in both the boys' and girls' categories.
