On 10 April 2024, students of The Indian School participated in a Ctizenship Programme activity, contributing their time to teach primary students at the nearby MCD school, Basketball. This programme aimed at promoting physical activity, teamwork, and sportsmanship among the young learners. Besides the value of shrmadaan.
At the session, Prisha Malhotra (IX A), Tarishi Sen Verma (IX E) and Bhavya (VIII C), first reinforcd the basic basketball skills previously taught. Similar to the previous session, primary students actively engaged in practicing dribbling, passing and shooting under the guidance of their young mentors.
Despite some initial hesitation, the primary students quickly regained their confidence and enthusiasm for the sport. With the support and encouragement of their mentors, they actively participated in drills and mini games, demonstrating their growing interest and skill in basketball.
This Citizenship Programme activity was successful in achieving the objectives of promoting physical activity and teamwork among primary students. The mentors demonstrated leadership and enthusiasm, contributing to the positive outcomes of the sessions. Invaluably our student- mentors enriched themselves by making the time and effort to lend a hand at empowering those not as privileged.
