Citizenship Prgramme resumes Peer teaching at neighbourhood MCD school

In the race to survive in a fast-paced world, we sometimes forget our moral responsibilities towards the society and to that extent our personalities stay incomplete. Sadly, this realisation is largely rare amongst most people.

“Tell me and I forget; teach me and I remember; involve me and I learn” – Benjamin Franklin

On 8 February 2023, peer teaching was conducted as an initiative of the Citizenship Programme. A few students from class VIII -D (Ananya Nayak and Sanjana Thakur), IX-A (Naman Kumar Singh and Ishant Bhashkar) and IX-D (Vania Taneja and Lakshita Gupta) visited the nearby MCD school at Andrews Ganj.

Accompanied by their teacher, Ms Sarah Khanna, the students, as peer teachers, engaged the children of class V, through videos, a Powerpoint presentation and self made colourful posters and charts. They taught and engaged the students on some topics such as the relevance of celebrating Pongal, renewable and non-renewable sources of energy and so on.

It is envisaged that this approach would facilitate and enhance our students’ engagement, communication, and independence skills. Our students posed challenging questions, and the children at the MCD school felt at ease with their peer tutors, and not hesitant to get their doubts clarified.

Overall, it was a great learning experience for the students of our School.
