On Sunday, 19th February 2017, 32 students of class VIII along with 2 teachers, participated in a Swachha Paryavaran Campaign organised by the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry at Rajpath. This campaign was supported by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and aimed to offer solidarity with the cause of environment conservation for social transformation. Around 5000 students of 150 schools across Delhi and the NCR became brand ambassadors for this cause and committed to take the message forward.
The campaign was inaugurated by chief guest, Mr. Anil Baijala, Retd. IAS and the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi. Colonel Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, veteran shooter and politician, currently serving as Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting spoke to participants and appealed to them to devote themselves to the cause.
The rally was flagged off and included a number of performances by school students. The 2.2 km walk showcased the enthusiasm and burning desire in the student community to make a difference. They used the medium of their performances to convey their message. They presented dances, band performances, costumes, slogans, banners and tableau.
In all, it was a successful campaign with a strong message by the student campaigners to empower the movement.
