A talk on Climate Change by a metereology scientist

A highly informative and interactive workshop on Climate Change was held for the students of classes IX and X on 19 August 2025, in the School auditorium. The session was led by Mr Anand Sharma, a distinguished environmental scientist who served as Scientist-G and Additional Director General at the India Meteorological Department (IMD), New Delhi.

The workshop provided the students with deep insights into the fundamentals of the climate science. Through an engaging discussion, Mr Sharma explained the causes and consequences of climate change, emphasising the critical role of human activities in global warming. Real-life examples such as rising temperatures, unpredictable rainfall, frequent storms and their impact on agriculture, helped students connect scientific concepts to everyday life.

One of the highlights of the session was the use of satellite imagery to demonstrate real-time wind and rainfall patterns. This hands'-on activity sparked the students’ curiosity and made the complex atmospheric processes easier to understand.

Students enthusiastically participated through the session, sharing their thoughts and observations. Their active involvement made the discussion lively and intellectually stimulating.

The workshop not only enhanced the students’ understanding of climate change but also highlighted the importance of observation, data analysis and scientific thinking. It successfully inspired many to take a deeper interest in environmental and atmospheric sciences.
