Accountancy Workshop for classes 11 and 12.
Commerce teachers from more than 200 schools from Delhi-NCR attended an accountancy workshop held at Delhi Public School at Mathura Road on 4 May, 2013.
The workshop attracted attention in the light of the ambiguity in the scope of the recent changes in the curriculum of Accountancy for classes 11 and 12 for the academic sessions 2013-14 as well as 2014-15.
Teachers expressed their serious concern about the accountancy question paper in the recently concluded CBSE Board exams that saw unexpected and lengthy questions.
Mr. Sandeep Sethi, Education Officer, ( Commerce), CBSE commenced the first session by sharing his expert view on the methodology of undertaking project work in class 11 in a simple, pragmatic and interesting way. He emphasised on developing skills in students to build their own case studies based on their daily life experiences and their interaction with the world of commerce.
Dr. G.S. Grewal and Mr. R.K. Khosla , former members of the faculty, Board of Studies, ICAI and renowned authors of several books on accountancy at school and undergraduate levels, addressed the teaching fraternity from the Commerce department in the latter half of the day. They not only introduced the changes that have taken place in the curriculum but also announced that an update would be available at the official website of CBSE shortly, to reduce the confusion regarding the scope of the syllabus.
It was a highly useful and much- needed meeting with the experts to gain better insight into both, the latest trends in the subject as well as the types of questions expected in the coming years.
