Orientation on the Newly Enacted Criminal Laws at Bharat Mandapam for students

On 8 July 2025, students of classes 9 to 12 had the opportunity to visit Bharat Mandapam, where an exhibition on India’s newly implemented criminal laws was being held. The exhibition marked one year since these landmark reforms came into effect, signalling a major shift in the country’s criminal justice system. The event aimed to introduce young minds to the key changes shaping modern law and order in India.

The exhibition offered a dynamic blend of educational models, interactive role plays and realistic simulations, guiding students through each stage of the justice process. Informative displays illustrated the functioning of vital institutions such as the “Delhi Police Control Room”, “Forensic Science Laboratory”, “Sessions Court”, and the “Supreme Court”. The exhibit also highlighted the role of “Victim-Decided Sentencing (VDS)” and explained how these new laws are being put into action.

One of the most striking takeaways for the students was the use of advanced technology in policing today. Demonstrations of tools like the “Digital Face Scan” and the “National Automated Fingerprint Identification System (NAFIS)” showed how cutting-edge methods are improving the speed and accuracy of investigations. They also had the chance to interact with representatives from the “Women Empowerment Cell”, learning about legal rights and protections available to women. Many were intrigued by the section displaying and selling products made by prisoners, which highlighted efforts toward rehabilitation and skill development.

This insightful visit offered students a meaningful glimpse into the workings of India’s evolving legal landscape. It left them both informed and inspired by the systems that uphold justice in the country.
