BUDDHA TEMPLE

Excursions to Places of Worship, Pre-school

Our Pre- schoolers visited the Buddha Temple on 14 September, 2012. The students are now competent in putting on and taking off their own shoes following the Independent Child Week and these skills were adequately demonstrated on the occasion!

The priest, Rev.Tashi Khetup welcomed us warmly and led us in to the sanctum. He knelt down and spoke to the children. He asked what they knew and what they like. He also asked the children what they'd like to know. The children soon started to relate and gathered around him, in curiosity and in some wonder. He chatted with them about the Lotus which is so utterly untouched by it's surroundings although it grows in dirt water. He asked if they would like to be like one and they all nodded in unison. He then went on to tell them a story of the Buddha and they joined in to chant Buddham Sharnam'. One of the children, Kabeer Luthra of Capella even sang a popular Buddhist hym for the group..' Na Myo Ho Renge Kyo' that he seemed to know.

The Reverand handed each visitor a little misri as prasad and a sweet memory to carry back.   As told by Ms. Mayur Bose, Pre- primary teacher.
