Chemistry Fair at Shiv Nadar University
On 18 October 2024, five students of The Indian School attended the “Chemistry Fair” at Shiv Nadar University, accompanied by their chemistry teacher, Ms Ayesha Khan. Their mission was to explore the university's academic offerings and research facilities, with a particular focus on the role of chemistry in everyday life.
The event began with a welcome address outlining the university's vision. This was followed by a series of experiments, each introduced with a brief explanation, enabling the students to engage with the practical aspects of their studies. Later, the group had the opportunity to attempt various experiments such as the "Quantum Dots", "The Chemical Traffic Light", "Iodine Clock", "Formation of Organic Dyes" "Synthesis of Nylon-6,6", "Lemon Battery", "Chemiluminescence", "Chemical Sunset", "Computational Chemistry" and many more, fostering a hands'-on learning experience.
After participating in the experiments, students learned about the university's academic programmes, its robust curriculum and its emphasis on inter disciplinary learning, with standout offerings in data science, computer science, and environmental studies. This ignited the interest of the students as potential future areas of study. The research facilities were impressive too, featuring modern laboratories and faculty who were deeply involved in pioneering research, frequently collaborating with industry leaders. The campus environment was another highlight, with well-designed spaces that fostered a great learning atmosphere and encouraged student engagement.
The visit concluded with a sense of anticipation of future endeavours and a shared commitment to academic excellence and innovation. The students had an enriching experience that deepened their enthusiasm for learning.
