Chinese New Year Festival 2014

On 13 February, 2014, 15 students of our School went to the Siri Fort Auditorium for the Chinese Festival organized by the Embassy of China in association with the India-China Economic and Cultural Council. The Ambassador for China graced the occasion as chief guest.

The opening act of the evening was an acrobatic feat where numerous boys and girls performed together with red lanterns. The next was a mesmerizing solo- ballet performance followed by a number of juggling shows with hats and drums. We were enthralled to see the performers, dressed in colourful costumes display their prowess effortlessly. The next to follow was the most spectacular and daring act Balancing on Pipes. Here a man in great skill and confidence walked on horizontal pipes. He started with a single pipe and ended with five. The last but not the least was a performance titled Flying Plates which, as the name suggests, had a series of plates and saucers being hurled and caught and flipped, to be hurled again, in rapid succession! A breathtaking finale to a memorable evening of performances by the Guangxi Acrobatic Troupe. Reported by Artika Bansal, IXC
