Class 2 excursion to National Police Memorial
On October 8, 2025, a group of 163 students and 5 teachers visited the National Police Memorial in Chanakyapuri. The visit provided an enriching insight into the history, evolution, and the multifaceted roles of the Indian Police Force.
Inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 21, 2018, the Memorial stands as a tribute to the dedication and sacrifice of Indian police personnel. The museum, organised into five thematic sections, traces the development of policing from ancient and medieval periods through British rule to contemporary India.
Students explored exhibits featuring life-sized statues representing various police ranks, historical weaponry, and interactive touch screens presenting detailed information on State and Union Territory police forces. A dedicated section honouring police martyrs highlighted the nation’s highest peacetime gallantry awards — the Ashok Chakra, the Kirti Chakra, and the Shaurya Chakra.
A documentary offered a reflective portrayal of the lives and sacrifices of police officers, leaving a profound emotional impact on the visitors. Overall, the visit enhanced the students’ understanding of the constitutional, historical, and institutional dimensions of policing in India, making it a meaningful and educational experience.
