Community Service-Visit to Delhi Council for Child Welfare-Palna
On 9th August, 2015 twenty four students from the five sections of class IX born in the months of July and August visited Delhi Council for Child Welfare to celebrate their birthdays with the children present there. When we were informed about our visit to Palna we did not anticipate that the experience would be sublime. The students carried goodies like chips, fruit juice, biscuits and chocolates which they shared with the children.
Mr. Anupam Sharma, a member of the organisation took us around the Centre which had a Hydrotherapy Unit, an Orthopaedic centre and an Oral therapy centre. The organisation not only provides a home to lost and abandoned children but also conducts skill development courses to ensure a their economic independence in later life. The organisation also provides rehabilitation for mentally challenged children and free surgeries to the Polio- afflicted. Leg braces are provided free to these children.
It was a memorable experience, one which we will cherish all our lives because we discovered one of the most wonderful things in life, the joy of giving. As we left the Centre, the bright smiles on the faces of the children there lit up our hearts. It was indeed an unforgettable birthday party.
