Mahatma Gandhi, more lovingly known as Bapu b7y all Indians, is internationally acknowledged for his doctrine of non-violence as he led India to glorious freedom.
On 2 October India observes Gandhi Jayanti, birth anniversary of the father of the nation, who gave the world the invincible "weapons" of Truth, Non-violence and Compassion. Mahatma Gandhi insisted on truth and non-violence as inseparable from humanity Itself.
To celebrate this important occasion, the students and teachers of the pre-primary classes conducted a special virtual assembly on 1 October 2020. The assembly was based on stories from Bapu's life and his beliefs.
[gallery link="file" order="DESC"]The virtual commemoration commenced with a welcome, followed by the children speaking a few lines each of the values dear to Bapu. The confidence and clarity as they spoke was a delight to observe. They were dressed as the great freedom fighters, Rani Lakshmi Bai, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Sarojini Naidu and Shaheed Bhagat Singh. The children also spoke a few lines on the role that each of these greats played in attaining freedom for their motherland.
The Mahatma's favourite hymn, "Abide with me" was soulfully sung by singing teacher, Ms Bedi. Mr Sanjeev Kumar, Indian music teacher, then sang the immortal bhajans, "Vaishnav Jan, to tene kahiye re" and "Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram". The mood of the assembly seemed transfused with patriotic feeling.
The occasion concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by little Spreeha.
Kudos to the little children who maintained their enthusiasm through the assembly!
