' Happiness My Goal', class 10
An interaction with our School Chairman, Mr. Prafull Goradia.
The students of class IX got an opportunity to attend an engaging session with our Schools chairperson Mr. Prafull Goradia on Monday, 17 February, 2014 to discuss on the topic, Happiness- My Goal. This session was held in the AV Room in the 6th and 7th periods and our class teachers as well as our Principal, Ms. Joshi were also present.
The session began with Sir telling us to ask our questions or share our views on the subject of what we think happiness is how it affects us. After an animated exchange of interesting angles and opinions, Mr. Goradia, used his personal experiences and witty sense of humour to easily convey to us that happiness was only a state of mind and it depends on how the human mind perceives a particular situation.
Sir said, he believed that the main cause of unhappiness in this world is jealousy and our continuous desire for more. He said that comparing ourselves with others is what makes us unhappy. The stress of the continuous comparison forces us to lose sight of our own qualities, he said. " I have never been jealous of anyone in my entire life", he stated. However this quality is hard to find in people most of the time.
Among several examples, Sir also used that of the game of golf to explain how instead of planning to damage someone elses game one should focus on one's own game, i.e. we should make our own goals and try to fulfill them, in order to be happy and satisfied.
The session ended on a light note when Sir insisted that we must not compare and thereby insult ourselves. We ignore the inherent qualities we ourselves own in the bargain, he insisted.
The interaction left us thinking for several moments after he left. Quite to our own surprise we seemed to blank out the bustle around us to look within us. We began to think of ways of how to try and keep ourselves happy oftener!
