Heritage Day Assembly
Heritage is the very essence of humanity and needs to be preseved. So, the International Council of Monuments and Sites in 1982 decided to celebrate Heritage Day on 18th April, 2016 to instil the need to cherish and preserve both tangible and intangible items for generations to come. The day was then recognised as an official event by UNESCO in 1983.

Like every year, this year too on 19th April our School observed the occasion with great fervor in the form of an informative assembly for classes X, XI & XII. Avantika Chodha of class X-A began the assembly by familiarising students with the psychological and socio-cultural need and urge to protect ones heritage. Gitansh Satija of class XA then presented a small video clip on the infamous Chor Minar. This monument is the site where the heads of burglars who had been apprehended were mounted in order to discourage theft. It was built during the rule of Allaudin Khilji.
The video was followed by another short film on the changing image of Delhi by Mubashir Ali and Harshini Ramakrishnan of class XIIC. It featured the history of some known and lesser known monuments of Delhi like the Ghanta Ghar, the bell tower in the centre of Chandni Chowk. This got its name from the royal elephants whose bells tinkled as they approached the spot to fetch sweetmeats from their masters! This was also the site where a number of demonstrating satyagrahis were killed by British soldiers on March 30, 1919.
The assembly was a successful endeavor by our students. They did well by glorifying our heritage and spreading the message that ones heritage is meaningful and worth cherishing.
