ICT in School education, a workshop for teachers
A two day workshop on Changing Education Paradigms in Leadership at School through ICT intervention was organised by CRISP - Consortium for Research in School Pedagogy at Sanskriti School on 6and7December, 2013.
On the first day of the workshop, subject- teachers were oriented on using technology for education. It was attended by Ms. Jyoti Sharma and Ms. Geetanjali Varma. An interactive session was conducted on how ICT can be used to teach diverse subjects by both entertaining and engaging the children. The knowledge of free internet applications like stykz,
glogster.com, google earth, geogebra,
goanimate.com, smart mouse,
stickmen.com etc were provided by which teachers ( Digital emigrants) can be a match for the children ( Digital natives) as make teaching- learning becomes more effective.
The second day was a Think- Tank Meet attended by Dr. Anu Singh on the same topic. It was a discussion- based platform where the main point pondered was about technology acting as a support system and not as a substitute for the teacher. Teachers need to be in-sync with moving times, which is the time of multimedia and ' New Brains' a term nowadays used for children exposed to these tools. Undoubtedly they learn differently from the earlier generation, so it appears that modern education tools must touch each individual child.
