INDANITE MUN 2024-25

The Indianite MUN 2024, held on 8th and 9th November 2024, was a momentous event that displayed exemplary diplomatic skills, intellectual discussions, and outstanding organisational efforts. The Secretariat, led by Joint Secretaries General Dhruv Sacheti and Khushal Bansal, along with Deputy Secretary General Deepanshi Moitra, Director General Vansh Sharma, Deputy Director General Samiya Khurana, Charge D'affaires Bhumika Puri, and USG Design Dhruvi J Jain, worked tirelessly to make the conference a resounding success. The event witnessed robust deliberations on pressing global issues across five committees: UNGA, UNSC, UNCSW, JPS, and IP, headed by School alumni and student judges.

Overview:

The committees addressed diverse and relevant agendas, with notable performances recognised through various awards. In the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), delegates debated threats posed by weapons of mass destruction with an emphasis on biological weapons. The committee, chaired by Satwik Mitra , Riya Malhotra and Krunal Patel, awarded Best Delegate to Advay Sethi representing the Russian FederationHigh Commendation was given to Sehbaan Khan who represented Brazil, and Special Mention went to Rishietdeep Singh representing the United States Of America.

In the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), deliberations centred on the prevention of support for non-state actors, with special emphasis on the Middle East region. The committee was chaired by Jai Adlakha, Sejal Gupta and Prateek Singh, The Best Delegation award was secured by Saanvi Divya and Mohammed Arslan representing Palestine, with High Commendation awarded to Unnati Mishra and Soumit Dey Sarkar representing IsraelSpecial Mention was conferred upon Samiya Batra and Aadrita Sanyal Biswas representing Iran.

The United Nations Commission for the Status of Women (UNCSW) focused on sexual and reproductive health, emphasising abortion and female genital mutilation. The committee chaired by Gunveer Singh, Khushal Bansal and Prabhleen Kaur awarded the Best Delegate to Nalini Thakur who represented Argentina, High Commendation to Asha who represented North Korea, and Special Mention to Hanaan Husain who represented Australia, recognising their excellent contributions to the debate.

The Joint Parliamentary Session (JPS) chaired by Aryan Singh, Vani Chadha and Mannat Arora tackled the critical issue of sexual violence, discussing legal reforms, law enforcement accountability, and social change in response to the recent Kolkata rape case along with an on- the- spot crisis session. Best Delegate was awarded to Niyati Khurana representing Sonia GandhiHigh Commendation was received by Ashwini Prakash representing Amit Shah, while Special Mention went to Aarav Jha representing Prahlad Joshi.

The International Press Corps (IP) chaired by Aadya Garg and Pranya Sadh covered the event through photography, journalism, and caricatures. The Best Photographer award was given to Aman Kapoor, Best Journalist to Hitisha Mehta, and Best Caricaturist to Astha Chaudhari.

The highlight of the committee was when in the press conference, journalists questioned the delegates and tried to get answers from them, replicating the crucial role of the media.

Highlights:

Opening Ceremony: The event began with Principal Ms Tania Joshi, addressing the event and motivating the students and highlighting the importance of

youth participation in global affairs. The need to critically think and introspect, which helps the pparticipants to create a more compassionate and sustainable future.

Debate and Resolutions: Delegates engaged in rigorous debates and negotiations, showcasing

their research and understanding of international issues. The committees passed several resolutions, demonstrating a collaborative effort to address global challenges.

Conclusion

The success of Indianite MUN 2024 can be attributed to the diligent efforts of the organising team, the active participation of the delegates and most crucially the constant support of the teachers. The conference provided a platform for young minds to engage in meaningful discussions, showcasing their diplomatic acumen and fostering a sense of global responsibility.
