The spectacular function started by unfolding the treasure trove. The student of class IV sang a song in their melodious voices on the medley of states. Each year we select a theme which has a profound impact upon our students. This year our theme is the vast coastline of the Western India--- from Gujarat to Kerala. This song had been composed by our western music teacher, Mrs. Bernadette Bedi.
Thereafter, the students of class 1 recited a poem which spoke of National Integration, the unity amidst the splendid diversity of India. This poem had been written by our very own Mrs. Neelima Sharma for this occasion. It was a long poem so each section recited one verse. This provided a excellent stage exposure to build confidence amongst the children.
The students of class 2 presented an anecdote from an incident in Shivaji's life. Truly, such acts are a real source of inspiration and pride not only for the present generation but also generations to follow. The students displayed confidence and clear diction on stage.
Project Citizenship aims at making students a part of the larger society and equipping them to become change- makers. As a part of this initiative the students of class 3 recited a poem, where they paid a tribute to all the unsung heroes of our country who have laid down their lives in giving us the freedom we enjoy today. It was recited as a chorus and the poem was Veer Tum Bade Chalo by Dwarka Prasad Maheshwari.
A play based on a Gujarati folk-tale was enacted by the students of classes IV and V with great gusto. The play elicited much laughter! Infact the entire audience sat through the play in pin-drop silence indicating their involvement! Greetings and exclamations were expressed perfectly in Gujrati. The title was Muft Hi Muft. This play is a lesson from the Hindi text book and was linked up creatively to the theme of our School.
Last but not the least, the students of class V enthralled the audience with an enchanting tale THE GIVING TREE. The students learnt valuable lessons from this story; To respect and love your elders as you will realize their importance once they are no more. The story was also a reflection of the large heartedness and abundance of nature.
The assembly concluded on a very enthusiastic and energetic response from the students. It was a very enriching experience for the participants and onlookers.
