Mathematics' Quest, classes 1-12.

Dr. Stya Paul Memorial Mathematics Quest held on 18 and 19 October, 2012 at Apeejay School, Saket celebrated, as it were, the Year of Mathematics. 29 schools from across Delhi and NCR namely branches of Delhi Public School, Modern School, Vasant Vihar, Ryan International, branches of the host school among many others participated in the 2 day event.

Prof. Parveen Sinclair, Director, NCERT, graced the occasion as chief guest.

On the 18th, students of our School participated in a wide range of competitions like Symposium, Aakar Parivar, Sudoku,Quiz, and model-making, exhibiting their mathematical propensity. Their work was appreciated by the eminent judges at the events.



Our students from classes 9 and 10 showcased an interesting mathematical concept, the Geodesic dome and it's usages, using a model. The highlight was Symposium where 2 students of class 11, Manik Narula and Maneet Singh applied principles of Trigonometry and the Archimedean Spiral to design a parking lot for optimal utilisation of space. Their innovative idea was applauded and they took the third prize both certificates and the trophy. All participants were handed certificates of participation.



The second day of the occasion i.e. the 19th provided teachers from all participating schools the opportunity to enhance their skill and learn Geogebra, a software to teach and learn mathematics. Dr P.K Chaurasia, Assistant Professor, NCERT, was resource person for the workshop. 2 of our teachers attended the 3 hour workshop which began with an orientation of the software by a power- point presentation followed by a hands- on session.



The exposure for the students and the teachers was extremely useful and enjoyable.
