Report on Ramanujan Examination
On 15 February, 2014, 20 students from our school went to Modern School, Vasant Vihar to participate in the Inter-school Mathematics Talent Examination. It was conducted by the Ramanujan Society of Born Mathematicians ( RSBM). The aim of the society is to popularize the mathematics among school children, apart from honouring meritorious students of the subject.
Our students reached the host school at 9:15 a.m. They were then guided to venues as per their roll numbers. The examination commenced at 10 a.m. and the duration of the exam for class V was 2 hours and for class VIII, 3 hours. The questions summoned out- of- the-box- thinking, high- order thinking and problem- solving skills. The experience was indeed enriching!
It was challenging experience for the students where they could explore their mathematical abilities and go beyond their so-called comfort levels in order to strengthen their mathematical minds. To quote Sir Srinivasa Ramanujan, An equation means nothing to me unless it expresses a thought of God."
