Vidya Taneja of class XII D participated in the TarkShetra Youth Parliament 2020: Vicharon ka Kurukshetra, organised and hosted by Delhi Public School, Gautam Buddha Nagar on 29 August 2020. The Youth Parliament was conducted on a virtually on Zoom.
There were two committees namely, the Rashtriya Suraksha Samiti (RSS) and the Economic Stakeholder Forum (ESF). Vidya, a member of the Rashtriya Suraksha Samiti (RSS), was assigned the portfolio of Dr. Subhramanyam Jaishankar, Minister of External Affairs in the Indian cabinet. The agenda to be discussed by the committee was Reviewing National Security and Related Policies with reference to recent developments.
The event started by asking the delegates to present their opening statements. Thereafter, the two motions that were discussed were - Deliberation on Terrorism and Deliberation on improvement of national security with special emphasis on diplomatic relations.
The event provided the participants a platform to articulate their knowledge of politics and the functions of the two houses of Parliament. It served as a great learning experience. Vidya was awarded Special Mention for her performance onthe committee.
