Spring Excursion for class 2 on the riverfront
With the arrival of spring, The Indian School organised an educational excursion for the students of class 2 to Baansera Park, along the Yamuna riverfront, on 25 February 2026. The visit formed part of the School’s commitment to experiential learning and environmental awareness.
A total of 154 students, accompanied by six teachers and support staff participated in the outing. Inaugurated in 2023, the park is recognised as the first themed bamboo park of its kind in the region and is home to over 30,000 bamboo plants interspersed with tranquil water bodies. The serene landscape, characterised by swaying bamboo groves and thoughtfully designed green spaces, provided an ideal setting for young learners to engage meaningfully with nature.
On the guided nature trail, students observed the distinctive use of bamboo in the park’s infrastructure, including fences, railings, seating areas and play structures, thereby gaining insight into its strength and sustainability as an eco-friendly resource. They were introduced to the environmental significance of bamboo, including its rapid growth, low water requirement and high oxygen output.
The presence of artistic installations, solar panels and well-maintained pathways further enriched the educational value of the visit, illustrating practical approaches to sustainable living.
The excursion not only deepened the students’ understanding of environmental stewardship but also fostered a sense of curiosity and appreciation for natural ecosystems, making it a memorable and instructive experience for all involved.
