Summer Internship Programme at Paul Bros, a manufacturing unit, 2013.
For our summer internship, four students of class 11 Ashmeet Bansal, Shivam Chopra, Varun Talwar and Mahima Batheja went to Paul Bros & Co. Pvt. Ltd. at Wazirpur Industrial Area to gain exposure to business management.
Our internship began at 10.30 am on 9 June. We of course eagerly waited to try our hands on this new activity! We were briefed about our tasks by Mr. Sudesh Kumar, the managing director of the company.
Our first day was spent learning about the purposes of the various types of bills, invoices and record books required in the daily course of business. We also saw the working of computerized embroidery machines as they rapidly produced varied patterns. After an intense day we returned home at 4 pm.
The second day was the most important day, as we began practical work. Each one of us was allotted a purchase file consisting of purchase bills for the last six months. We had to categorize each purchase under a distinct head, such as body, set and accessories etc. This work had to be completed in two days. A copy of our purchase book is given below:
On the third day, we completed our purchase books and were given the task of making sales reports. We had to categorize the various machines and components sold under various machine -types. We also observed the working of the different departments of the plant.
On 14th June, the last day of the programme we familiarised with correspondence on issues like the successful submission of cheques and C-forms etc.
It was an enriching experience that gave us a taste of the business world. We returned to our summer break with a bag filled with new experiences and memories.
