Top honours at inter school literary event-"Thought Huddle"
Sunbeam School Varuna, Varanasi conducted the first edition of Thought Huddle on 16-17 April, 2021 online on the Zoom platform. The event was dedicated to the five creative pillars of our times- 250th birth commemoration of music maestro, Ludwig Van Beethoven, the 700th year of the death commemoration of Poet Dante Alighieri, the 150th birth commemoration of polymath Abanindranath Tagore and the birth centenary commemoration of S.H. Raza and Somnath Hore. The event was curated by Mr Parnab Mukherjee, eminent theatre personality, quiz master and orator.
The event was divided into five competitions.
1. Multi format English debate- The event was open for the students of classes VIII-XII. Only two students from each school could participate in the event. Manan Kakkar of class X and Gunveer Singh Dhir of class XII-C participated in the event. Manan Kakkar was adjudged Best Speaker in the semi-final round of the debate.
2. Creative writing- Each school was represented by one student. The event was open for students of classes VI-VIII. Sonam Lhadon of VIII-A represented our School in the event. Participants were given a word/phrase upon which they were expected to construct a four-line poem and an eight-line story. The preparation time was 25 minutes.
3. Art installation with creative response The event saw participation of students from classes IX-XII. A theme was given five minutes prior to the set up and the preparation time was 25 minutes. The first participant had to set up an installation based on the theme and the second participant had to write an eight-line creative text response with reference to the installation. Sakshi Singh of XII-B and Shruti Arora of XII-D participated in the event.
4. General Quiz The event was open for students of classes VII- XII. Each school was represented by a team of two students. Sarvagya Puri and Anushka Saxena of class XII-A took part in the event. The competition followed the General Quiz format based on an elimination round and a final round.
5. Radio Play A team of four members from classes VIII-XII were allowed to participate in the event. The teams were given a theme 15 minutes before their preparation time which was 1 hour 10 minutes. Two members had to play act their roles, the third member had to provide music and the fourth member provided technical support. Our School was represented by Vanshika Kanaujia, Jiya Jawa of XII-D, Sharanya Mushran of XII-A and Akshat of XII-B. Their theme was Conversation between two books on a bookshelf . Their efforts were appreciated by the judges and they bagged the First Position in the event.
Our School was adjudged Joint Second Runner Up.
The event was an endeavour to provide the young minds with opportunities to imagine, create and innovate.
