VISIT TO RAILWAY MUSEUM
The children and their teachers of classes 1 and 2visitedthe Railway Museum on 25 and26July, 2012.It was a rainless morning but the weather failed to inhibit the enthusiasm of the children!
We were greeted bya huge engine at the gate and a squeal of excitement shot through the group. With persuasion we pulled away from this first attraction. Further down at the museum children got even more excited to see exhibits of wagons, coaches and engines displayed in the exhibition hall. The childrenhad been briefed in the classroom about the railway in our country, how it developed and on what scale it operates in modern day India. Now they saw first-hand, samples ofcarefully preserved engines and coachesfrom the various phases of it's evolution. The teachers related the specimens and the story of the railway to important historic events that the children had heard of. Needless to say the train joyride was a highlight. The excursion was followed up with each child creating a drawing of his/ her image of the museum.
