Citizenship Programme: Blanket distribution drive
“The simplest acts of kindness are far more powerful than a thousand heads bowing in a prayer”. -Mahatma Gandhi
We at The Indian School strongly believe in the enduring human values of empathy, compassion and love. With Delhi experiencing extreme cold conditions, what better time to spread warmth and kindness than this! With this aim, we the Indianites undertook an initiative to extend help to the underprivileged by providing them some respite from this biting cold.
As a part of the Citizenship Programme, a blanket distribution drive was undertaken by the teachers, parents and students on 12 and 21 January 2023. Blankets were handed to the homeless on the sides of the road and those temporarily housed in shelter homes located at several locations near our School.
On 12 January 2023, Manya Arora and Sharvit Shara (11C), Saina Garg (9A), Rishit Pillai (9E) and Madhav Sharma (9D) along with their teacher Ms Sandhya Batheja and Citizenship Coordinator, Ms Sangeeta Aswani, distributed blankets to the needy in the areas near Siri Fort Road, Green Park, Lodhi Road and Yusuf Sarai.
On 21 January 2023, the drive was conducted near Sant Nagar and Nehru Place by a team of 4 students comprising of Angad Kapoor (8A), Ananya Basu (8B), Manya Dhingra (8B) and Harshan Singh (8B), accompanied by PTA representatives Ms Srabani Sengupta and Ms Rashita Mendiratta. Ms Deepti Sawhney (teacher) and Ms Sangeeta Aswani were also present.
We look forward to undertaking more such initiatives with the same zeal to spread cheer and help make the world a better place.
This small but significant step was enough to prove that kindness is what makes this world going. This thoughtful gesture indeed made a huge difference to so many lives!
