Citizenship Programme holds workshops at nearby municipal schools

On 13th July 2022, a group of students of class 9B organised an Origami workshop for the students of Classes 1 to 3 at the Sadiq Nagar MCD School. They put together an exercise to teach the children to make a simple dog and cat folding paper using the art of Origami, without the use of scissors or a ruler.

The children were divided into three groups and our students took over teaching the basic folding techniques using recycled paper and then drawing the faces using crayons. The students who organised this workshop were Samagya Gauri, Tanvi Somvanshi and Yashi Singh.

On 20th July 2022, our students again visited the same school and taught the children a patriotic song, “ AE WATAN” keeping in mind the imminent Independence Day celebrations. Anay Verma, Dhriti Raria and Palakdeep of 9B patiently taught the children the lyrics and thereafter the song which the children enjoyed singing.

On 27th July 2022, students of class 12 visited the Pratibha Vidyalaya in Andrews Ganj to help with a workshop organised by the Buniyadi Sanskaar Foundation. This workshop was to sensitise the children there about the upcoming 75th Independence Day and participate in some beautiful art and craftwork relating to the colours of the Indian flag. The students divided themselves across 4 classes and each group assisted in making items like the peacock (national bird), the national flag using thumb printing, kites using the colorus of the Indian flag. The youngest children were asked to simply colour cutouts of the Tiranga.

At the end of 2 hours, we had a school full of happy, excited children and lots of beautiful wall hangings and decorations all looking vibrant in the saffron, green and white. The Principal of the host school, Ms Indu Batra was extremely appreciative of The Indian School for its continued support in providing these extra curricular classes to her school.

Students participating in this activity were as follow.
