Citizenship Programme initiative - Students conduct art workshops on Independence Day at nearby municipal schools

As a part of the 80th Independence Day celebrations, the Art Department of The Indian School organised engaging community outreach art and craft workshops at two municipal primary schools—MCD Primary School, Sadiq Nagar, and MCD Primary School, Andrews Ganj. The initiative aimed to foster artistic expression, celebrate national pride, and encourage peer-led collaborative learning among young students.

At MCD Primary School, Sadiq Nagar, a vibrant morning workshop was held for 50 students of Classes III to V from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., under the guidance of Art Teacher Ms Parul Singh. Class VIII student-volunteers Chitrakshi (VIII), Alankrita (VIII), Seana Kundu (VIII), Jasreet (VIII), and Tuhina (VIII) facilitated the session, guiding the younger learners through the creative process of crafting tricolour badges and decorative paper flowers. The host school's faculty commended the facilitators for their clarity of instruction, patience, and infectious enthusiasm. 

Concurrently, a parallel creative session was conducted at MCD Primary School, Andrews Ganj, mentored by Art Teacher Mr Shankar Sarkar. Student volunteers Rohit (VIII), Utkarsh (VIII), Prayan (VIII), and Sresh Roy (VIII) actively engaged the primary students, helping them design patriotic badges and tricolour floral motifs while instilling a deep sense of national pride.

Both workshops served as mutually enriching learning forums, spreading the spirit of freedom through artistic collaboration. The initiative provided the middle school facilitators with valuable hands-on exposure to peer teaching, communication, and community leadership, while bringing immense joy and patriotic fervour to the budding artists of both MCD schools.
